About DrivewayNights

DrivewayNights is an online marketplace that pairs campervan and motorhome owners who need a safe, legal place to park for the night with homeowners across the UK who have a spare driveway they’re happy to rent out. Guests pay by the night, hosts keep most of what’s paid, and we take a small commission to keep the platform running.

We host the listings, handle payments, hold funds in escrow, mediate disputes, and provide messaging. We don’t own any driveways and we don’t own any vans. Every booking is an agreement between a guest and a host — we’re the plumbing in between.

UK campervan ownership has more than doubled since 2016, but the country still has a fraction of the aires, stopovers, and overnight parking infrastructure you’d find in France or Germany. Supermarket car parks put up height barriers; lay-bys get signs saying “no overnight parking”; wild camping sits in a legal grey zone. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of UK driveways sit empty most nights.

The maths is obvious; the mechanism wasn’t. Airbnb covers guest rooms and whole properties, not the £15-a-night patch of tarmac a campervanner actually wants. Facebook groups and ad-hoc friends-of-friends arrangements work but have no payment rail, no profile, no recourse when things go wrong. DrivewayNights is the specialised layer on top.

• For guests

  Search by location and date, book a driveway, pay through Stripe, show up on the night. Cancel free up to 7 days before for a full refund. If the space isn’t what was promised, open a dispute inside the platform.

• For hosts

  Verify your identity, pick a membership tier, create a listing, wait for admin approval, and accept bookings. Payouts land 24 hours after stay start via Stripe Connect. You set your own nightly price and house rules.

• For admins

  We review every document upload, approve every host’s first two listings manually, and resolve disputes case by case. No algorithmic trust scores; no automated kicks without a human checking.

We charge hosts a yearly membership (£25 Basic or £35 Premium) and take a percentage commission on every successful booking (25% Basic, 15% Premium). Guests pay a small service fee which is included in the total shown before checkout — no surprise line items at the end.

That’s the whole revenue model. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run retargeting ads, we don’t take a cut of Stripe processing fees, we don’t earn anything off disputes (resolving them is pure cost to us, and we’d rather fewer of them). We’re not backed by venture capital, so there’s no growth-at-all-costs pressure pulling the business away from the thing hosts and guests actually hired us to do.

• Plain English

  Policies are written so you can read them on a phone in three minutes. If a clause needs a lawyer to decode, we rewrote it.

• Honest about limits

  We’re a marketplace, not an insurer. We don’t promise coverage we can’t actually deliver. See the damage policy for the full picture.

• Admin-in-the-loop

  A human approves host IDs, photos, and first-2 listings before anything goes live. Slower than fully-automated onboarding, but the fraud numbers are zero.

• No dark patterns

  Cancellation is a button, not a maze. Unsubscribe is one click. Price shown at search equals price charged at checkout. If you find an exception, email us — it’s a bug.

• UK-only on purpose

  Expansion to Europe or the US is not on the roadmap. Every country’s insurance, tax, and parking law is different enough that shipping in one place well is better than three places half-heartedly.

DrivewayNights is built and operated by Joshua Corrigan, from the UK. That’s it — no co-founders, no product team, no offshore support. Every email, every listing approval, every dispute decision comes through one person (me). That has trade-offs: support is same-working-day rather than instant, and I sleep. It has advantages: decisions are consistent, policies don’t drift, and nothing gets scripted to a call-centre.

• Not an insurer

  We don’t underwrite any aspect of your stay — vehicle damage, property damage, injury, theft. Both parties carry their own cover.

• Not a caravan site

  Driveway stopovers are a self-contained overnight, not a serviced pitch. No electric hookup, no grey-water, no loo facilities unless the host explicitly offers them.

• Not a storage product

  Bookings are per night, not per month. Long-term storage has different legal and insurance requirements and we don’t cover them.

• Not wild camping

  Every space on the platform is private land with an identifiable owner who has opted in. We don’t help you park anywhere else.

• Not a booking engine for hotels, B&Bs, or commercial sites

  If you run a licensed caravan site, please use the proper booking software built for that — DrivewayNights is built around private residential driveways.
