Quick answers to the questions guests and hosts ask most. Can't find what you need? Drop us a line at the bottom of the page.
Pick a driveway, choose your dates, hit Book. Payment is taken immediately and held by DrivewayNights — the host doesn't get paid until 24 hours after your stay starts. The exact address, host phone number, and any arrival instructions are revealed on your booking confirmation page.
The nightly rate set by the host, plus a small DrivewayNights service fee. There are no extra charges at check-in. The total you see at checkout is what you pay.
All major UK debit and credit cards via Stripe, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay where your device supports them. We don't store card details on our servers — payment data lives only with Stripe.
At the moment of booking. This is different from how Airbnb works for some stays — we capture upfront so you have a guaranteed booking and the host has guaranteed funds. If you cancel within the free-cancellation window, the full amount is refunded to the same card.
Yes. More than 7 days before your stay starts, cancellations are free and refunded in full. Within 7 days, cancellations are non-refundable by default — but you can still ask the host or open a dispute if something has changed.
See the full refund policy for the small print.
We issue refunds instantly on our side. Stripe typically returns the money to your card in 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
You receive a full refund, including the service fee. Repeated host cancellations result in listing suspension, so it's rare.
On your booking confirmation page (linked from My bookings) once payment is confirmed. Listings keep the exact address private until you book — for hosts' safety. Arrival instructions, gate codes, and any host notes appear in the same place.
Open the booking from My bookings and use the conversation thread attached to it. Both of you get an email when a new message arrives. The host's phone number is also on the confirmation page if you need a faster channel.
Phone the host first — their number is on your booking confirmation. If you genuinely can't make contact and the driveway is inaccessible, open a dispute from the booking page and we'll help sort it.
That's between you and the host — message them through the booking conversation thread to coordinate. The system uses midnight in the host's local timezone as the official check-in moment, but most hosts are flexible if you give them advance notice.
Head to Become a host. You'll create an account, choose a membership tier, verify your identity (driving licence via Stripe), and create your first listing. The first two listings per host are reviewed by an admin before they go live.
Basic— £25 per year. Up to 2 listings, 25% commission per booking.
Premium— £35 per year. Up to 15 listings, 15% commission per booking.
Both are billed annually via Stripe and renew automatically. You can cancel from your account at any time and keep using your current tier until the period ends.
We transfer your share to your Stripe Connect account 24 hours after the stay starts, provided no dispute is open. From there Stripe pays out to your bank on its standard rolling schedule (typically 7 days for new accounts, faster as you build history).
From your listing's page in the host dashboard, open the Calendar tab and click-drag a date range to block it. Guests can't book those dates. You can also see all confirmed bookings on the same calendar.
Yes — price, description, photos, arrival instructions, and house rules can all be updated from the listing's edit page. Major changes (address, vehicle limits) may trigger a re-review by an admin.
From your booking page, click Open a dispute. You can file within 72 hours of the stay starting. Both parties submit evidence (photos, messages), and an admin reviews and resolves with one of: full refund to guest, full transfer to host, or a partial split.
DrivewayNights does not insure your stay
Both guests and hosts are responsible for their own cover for the period of the stay — that means comprehensive van insurance for guests, and home / public-liability insurance for hosts. Check your policy before you book or list; not all policies cover vehicles kept on private driveways.
If something does go wrong, take photos immediately, exchange details, and — for anything serious — call the police or your insurer. You can then open a dispute through DrivewayNights so we have a record and can hold or refund payment where appropriate, but we cannot settle damage claims ourselves.
Every public profile and listing page has a Report button. Pick the reason (misleading, unsafe, fraud, harassment, etc.) and add a short note. A moderator reviews every report.
The host has verified their identity using Stripe Identity (driving licence). It doesn't guarantee anything about the driveway itself, but it does mean the person you're booking with has been ID-checked.
We use magic links — you enter your email, we send you a one-tap sign-in link. No passwords to remember or get phished. The link expires after a few minutes.
From your profile page → Delete account. We anonymise your personal data immediately and retain only what we're legally required to keep (financial records, in line with UK accounting law).
You'll see an explanation on the suspended-account page when you sign in. To appeal, email [email protected] with your account email and a short note about your situation.
Drop us a line via the contact form or email [email protected] directly. We aim to reply within one working day.
